ASSISTING SMALL-SCALE FARMERS IN ECUADOR
Join Hands provides technical and material support to farmers near the village of Otavalo. Through this support the yield of maize and beans has increased substantially. This support has been directed at determining factors that limit production and in supporting the use of appropriate inputs. Join Hands is currently providing training to young farmers that attend a school for adult learners and is helping farmers in Otavalo develop an improved variety of maize that is more locally adapted.
Helping cover medical costs of individuals requiring critical care
Medical expenses in Cambodia are a fraction of those in more developed countries. However, these expenses can prevent individuals from seeking care, or they may place difficult burdens on families that use credit to obtain critical health care. Family members may forego educational opportunities and work in menial jobs in order to help repay medical bills. Join Hands helps individuals with special needs help pay their medical expenses and encourages them to seek competent care.

Food for displaced Venezuelans and Colombians and school uniforms for children from these families so they can attend local schools
Thousands of Venezuelans and Colombians have migrated to Ecuador to find work and escape violence. Often there are young boys and girls accompanying one or both parents. Join Hands is purchasing food that is cooked and distributed by volunteers to about 100 displaced Venezuelans each week in the town of Ibarra Ecuador. Join Hands is also purchasing school uniforms for displaced children so that they can attend public school. Though the Ecuadorian education system is welcoming to these stateless children, they can only attend if they have a proper school uniform.
